Money spent on Books

The following graph that we are going to show you next, it’s about the money spent on books, in developed countries of Europe. Specifically, the graph shows us the money spent in $US dollars (millions) in Germany, France, Italy and Austria, since 1995, 1997, 1999, 2001, 2003 until 2005.
As an overall picture, we can see Germany (light green line) in a privileged position; regarding to the other countries we can see Germany as the country that has spent the most money on books since 1995 until 2005. For example, in 1995 Germany invested $80 million dollars in contrast with Austria (dark green line), country that invested only $30 million dollars in the same year. We can also say that the situation of Germany in 1995 went up slightly, from $80 million dollars to $90 million dollars in 1999. Then, since that year we can observe a faintly decrease until reaching to $85 million dollar until 2003, but until the year 2005, the expenditure went back to rise steadily until the $95 million dollars.
Respect the case of France (blue line) this country in generally, shows us a gradually increase, since $55 million dollars approximately in 1995 to $70 million dollars in 2005. The numbers in 1999 increase rapidly, from $60 million dollars, until reaching $70 million dollars in 2001.
Talking about Italy (yellow line) we can say the numbers of the money spent on books has fluctuated slightly, from 1995 we can see a faintly increase since 1995 until 1999 only in $5 million dollars aprox. However, in 1997 the numbers decrease gradually until the year 1999, rise rapidly again until 2005.
In the last case, Austria the expenditure in 1995 are around $30 million dollars, increase steadily until 1999. But, from the year 1999, the numbers remain steady until 2001.  However, the expenditure increase rapidly in 2005 to reach 65 million dollars.
Finally, thanks to this information we can see that Germany, in a range of 10 years, remains as the country that spends the most money on books, a highly contrasted situation with countries such as Austria or Italy, since 2003. The reason? perhaps the little interest of the people and the state.
