Post 7: Wild animals and pets

Hi everyone! In today's post, i would like to talk about wild animals and pets. First of all, i want to ask you something, do you consider yourself an animal lover? why? If you had asked me this cuestion a few years ago -five years ago probably- i probably woud have answered "not so much". You will wonder why i used to think that way? This is because, when i was a kid i never had a pet. I used to play with my cousin's dog but one day, he bit me really hard, so from that time i was very afraid about dogs and animals in general.  But now, if you ask me that, i definitely consider myself as an animal lover! I'm saying this because i met some people, like my boyfriend, who's open their heart to show me their pets and it was a beautiful and magic oportunity to me. Me, as an animal lover today, i totally disagree with the use of animals of medical researh and any type of animal cruelty. I don't think that the human being should make use of animals for

POST 6: POST GRADUATE STUDIES

Hi everyone! Today i would like to talk you about a postgraduate course that i would consider taking in the future.   As an anthropology student, I would like to take a future postgraduate course with something related to my career, of course. But, in this sense, I think that everything could be related with anthropology! Actually, I've been thinking for a long time, that if in the future I had to take a postgraduate course, it would be something related to Archeology and Egyptology. Since I was a child I loved when I was in school, we saw the "Great Civilizations", Ancient Egypt was my favorite. Everything about Egypt It caught my attention, so every time I see it in TV documentaries and movies, I see it. I’ve been researching and I noticed that in our University there is a diploma course called “Egyptology and Ancient Middle East”, so I think Chile would be an interesting place to start my  research about Egypt. Ideally i would like to take the course in the af

Post 5: My Future Job

Think about the future is a thing that doesn’t work so much for me… As you know, today I’m an anthropologist student, so I guess that my future job will be guided in this particular line. Although i’m not 100% sure of what major subject I’m going to choose (Social Anthropology or Archaeology) I would like to imagine a job where I can be “free”. In others words,   work outdoors, out of the city, perhaps   with communities of people, having an impact in their lives and help them and contribute to "create a better world to live". I wouldn’t like an academic job where I’ll spend all day in an office behind a computer, I would like to be with different types of communities or investigate extinct societies. As I said, I can’t choose between Social Anthropology or Archaeology because I’m interested in both specialties, if it were possible to do both things at the same time, I would do it!... Despite this I’m 100% sure that I would love to travel the most of the time, esp

Post 4: My Favourite Cartoon

When I think of my childhood, one of  the first memories that came to my mind are the cartoon series that I used to see. I have many favorite cartoon series, but this time I would like to talk about an animated serie created in Chile! In fact, the first Chilean cartoon made under traditional animation; Diego & Glot.  Even though i was 8 years old when this serie released, it  touched something deep in me, it was the first time that i saw a cartoon based in my own country (I was used to seeing series made in USA). I think that is the main reason why i like it, besides, the cartoon showed a large number of characters, places and Chilean culture. In particular, “Diego & Glot” tells the story and adventures of Diego Plá an 11 year-old-boy, his family, friends and of course “Glot”, his iconic green mestizo dog (a chilean "quiltro"). If you don’t know the cartoon, i recommend that you take a look at the intro, it’s amazing and you’ll understand everything that i said.
