Using cell-phones in classroom. Beneficial or harmful?

It's already a fact that the technology is a tremendously and powerful tool for –and made for- the human being. So much so that the technology has invaded our public and private life, so, there are both arguments for and against its use. One of the best examples for this situation, it’s revealed through the use of the cell phone; it’s seems that nobody could live without their cellphone, even children, who constantly use the cellphone in classroom. In these sense, some people argue that using cell-phones in the classroom could be beneficial, others are totally disagree about it.  Principal arguments they allude to the benefit and the creation of a new era of education and others say the use is very harmful to the children, the learning and his capabilities. Despite that, in this essay we are going to define the use of cellphones as a beneficial one, both for teachers and for students, which must be accompanied by education on the subject of technologies. Using cellphones at c

Money spent on Books

The following graph that we are going to show you next, it’s about the money spent on books, in developed countries of Europe. Specifically, the graph shows us the money spent in $US dollars (millions) in Germany, France, Italy and Austria, since 1995, 1997, 1999, 2001, 2003 until 2005. As an overall picture, we can see Germany (light green line) in a privileged position; regarding to the other countries we can see Germany as the country that has spent the most money on books since 1995 until 2005. For example, in 1995 Germany invested $80 million dollars in contrast with Austria (dark green line), country that invested only $30 million dollars in the same year. We can also say that the situation of Germany in 1995 went up slightly, from $80 million dollars to $90 million dollars in 1999. Then, since that year we can observe a faintly decrease until reaching to $85 million dollar until 2003, but until the year 2005, the expenditure went back to rise steadily until the $95 million

Language

Mark Pagel says that we thrive in a way that no other species does, this because of our ability to produce language. According to the author, this is the most valuable feature we have and it is a wonderful irony that our languages exist to prevent us from communicating. In this sense, I agree with Pagel when he talks about the subversive power of language, language has the potential to change reality. As humans we have an amazing power, language acting as a container of culture, allows us to create realities, creating distinctions between people, between men and women, often excluding other diversities. However, today we have the perfect tool to convert that reality. Mr. Page's saying "social learning is a visual theft" means that we can learn from other people by watching, coping and imitating, in this process, we steal the best ideas for other people. For me, this discussion is not necessarily a negative thing because it is something that we currently have

Post 8: Career-related website

Imagen
Hi! Everyone, today i will talk about a anthropology related website. As you know, I’m an anthropology student at the University of Chile, since 2017, so I’m quite new in this field but, I am very interested and excited  in this career. In this respect, there is a website that i discovered a couple of years ago, when i became interested in anthropology, the website is called  “El antropólogo principiante” or  ‘The beginner anthropologist’ in English. This is a very interesting blog; it belongs to a former student of anthropology from Spain, specifically from the UNED University (Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia) in Madrid. The blog tells the experience of the author, Juan, after having studied 4 years of anthropology. He wrote about his experiences studying the career, also he explains why he left the career after 4 years!!!  OMG. But the most interesting part about the website, are the many sections that you can find, the author talks about different topics (ver

Post 7: Wild animals and pets

Hi everyone! In today's post, i would like to talk about wild animals and pets. First of all, i want to ask you something, do you consider yourself an animal lover? why? If you had asked me this cuestion a few years ago -five years ago probably- i probably woud have answered "not so much". You will wonder why i used to think that way? This is because, when i was a kid i never had a pet. I used to play with my cousin's dog but one day, he bit me really hard, so from that time i was very afraid about dogs and animals in general.  But now, if you ask me that, i definitely consider myself as an animal lover! I'm saying this because i met some people, like my boyfriend, who's open their heart to show me their pets and it was a beautiful and magic oportunity to me. Me, as an animal lover today, i totally disagree with the use of animals of medical researh and any type of animal cruelty. I don't think that the human being should make use of animals for
