POST 6: POST GRADUATE STUDIES

Imagen
Hi everyone! Today i would like to talk you about a postgraduate course that i would consider taking in the future.   As an anthropology student, I would like to take a future postgraduate course with something related to my career, of course. But, in this sense, I think that everything could be related with anthropology! Actually, I've been thinking for a long time, that if in the future I had to take a postgraduate course, it would be something related to Archeology and Egyptology. Since I was a child I loved when I was in school, we saw the "Great Civilizations", Ancient Egypt was my favorite. Everything about Egypt It caught my attention, so every time I see it in TV documentaries and movies, I see it. I’ve been researching and I noticed that in our University there is a diploma course called “Egyptology and Ancient Middle East”, so I think Chile would be an interesting place to start my  research about Egypt. Ideally i would like to take the course in the af...

Post 5: My Future Job

Think about the future is a thing that doesn’t work so much for me… As you know, today I’m an anthropologist student, so I guess that my future job will be guided in this particular line. Although i’m not 100% sure of what major subject I’m going to choose (Social Anthropology or Archaeology) I would like to imagine a job where I can be “free”. In others words,   work outdoors, out of the city, perhaps   with communities of people, having an impact in their lives and help them and contribute to "create a better world to live". I wouldn’t like an academic job where I’ll spend all day in an office behind a computer, I would like to be with different types of communities or investigate extinct societies. As I said, I can’t choose between Social Anthropology or Archaeology because I’m interested in both specialties, if it were possible to do both things at the same time, I would do it!... Despite this I’m 100% sure that I would love to travel the most of the time, esp...

Post 4: My Favourite Cartoon

Imagen
When I think of my childhood, one of  the first memories that came to my mind are the cartoon series that I used to see. I have many favorite cartoon series, but this time I would like to talk about an animated serie created in Chile! In fact, the first Chilean cartoon made under traditional animation; Diego & Glot.  Even though i was 8 years old when this serie released, it  touched something deep in me, it was the first time that i saw a cartoon based in my own country (I was used to seeing series made in USA). I think that is the main reason why i like it, besides, the cartoon showed a large number of characters, places and Chilean culture. In particular, “Diego & Glot” tells the story and adventures of Diego Plá an 11 year-old-boy, his family, friends and of course “Glot”, his iconic green mestizo dog (a chilean "quiltro"). If you don’t know the cartoon, i recommend that you take a look at the intro, it’s amazing and you’ll understand everything that i s...

The best concert i've been to: Blur

Imagen
For me, music is an important part of my life,  i've been in many concerts, in fact, the last concert that i went, was in March of this year.  If i had to talk about "The best concert i've been to" i couldn't make just one choice, it's so difficult to me because i've been in the concerts of my favourite band's and singer! However, today i'm going to talk you about my first concert of my favourite band ever.  One of my very best concert experience was seeing "Blur" for the first time in Santiago on November of 2013. It was the first time of the band in Chile. If you don't know, Blur is a famous British band, icon of the "britpop" of the nineties, his singer is the famous songwriter Damon Albarn (singer of "Gorillaz" too). If you like to dance, melancholy, joy and a lot of emotions, Blur is for you!!! The concert was very special, all the fans was crying  and excited (most of the people had 20-30 years or mor...

Post 2: My Childhood

Imagen
Childhood was an amazing time in my life, i like so much to think about that. When i was a child, my father always listened to music from the "80's", especially rock music from Latin America, so whenever i listen to songs like "Tomo lo que encuentro" by Virus or "Juegos de Seducción" by Soda Stereo, I return immediately  to my childhood and family memories.  I think one of my first childhood memories happened when i got in to the school for the first time. I remember when my mom took me to the place and I saw the children around and they were all cried !!! I was very scared but I didn’t cry, in fact I was very happy, it will be one of my happiest moments in my childhood. Also, my school had a small forest and a small farm inside, I was really happy. Before school or on weekends, my favorite activity was watch some TV cartoon series. I liked to watch "The Powerpuff Girls" and "Hey Arnold", i loved the characters and th...

A country i would like to visit: United Kingdom, one of my dream places!

Imagen
Who does not love to travel and immerse themselves in new realities? Hi everyone! I’m Valentina, I’m 20 years old and I live in Chile. As a future anthropologist/archaeologist I would like to visit many places and countries, as a way to learn and see different cultures. But, since I was a child, I have been dream about to know United Kingdom. You will wonder why U.K? I think, this is one of the most interesting countries to meet in Europe. I have heard many interesting things of U.K, besides; i’ve seen a lot of movies and tv series produced there. Therefore, I’m especially interested about the culture, the architecture (especially their palaces, parks, and the ancient aspect of some places), the archaeological ruins and the music! English music is the best. If I ever go to United Kingdom, I would like to know London, the Hyde Park, the Buckingham Palace, museums, and other attractive touristic places. Abovef all, I would love to go a concert of my favorite bands; Blur and ...
